One Watch, Two Personalities: Suede Mimosa or Nubuck Gris?
When choosing a new strap for the black-dial Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Chronographe, Ref. Q6013470, we were immediately drawn to the yellow and warm gold details on its dial. Rather than simply choosing another dark strap, we explored two very different ways to bring those accents forward: Suede Mimosa and Nubuck Gris with gold stitching.
These images are visual references rather than photographs of finished straps. They help show the overall color relationship and character of each combination before the strap is made by hand.
Option One: Suede Mimosa
Suede Mimosa is the more eye-catching of the two choices. Its warm yellow-gold tone picks up the colorful hands and accents on the black dial, making those small details feel much more prominent.
The soft suede texture also changes the personality of the watch. Compared with a traditional black leather strap, Mimosa feels more relaxed, playful and slightly vintage. The contrast is strong, but it does not feel disconnected because the color is already present on the dial.
It is a pairing for someone who wants the strap to be part of the conversation—not simply a neutral frame around the watch.
Like many suede colors, Mimosa can look different depending on the light. In brighter light, its yellow side becomes more visible; under softer or darker lighting, it appears warmer and more golden. That variation is part of its charm.
Option Two: Nubuck Gris with Gold Stitching
Nubuck Gris takes a more understated approach. The grey leather sits naturally between the silver-toned case and the black dial, creating a calm and cohesive base.
The gold stitching is the detail that brings the combination to life. Rather than using the entire strap to echo the dial accents, it introduces the warm color in a much more restrained way. The stitching connects visually with the yellow and gold hands while allowing the grey nubuck to remain the focus.
The result feels refined, modern and easy to wear. It still has personality, but the contrast is subtler than with Suede Mimosa. For everyday versatility, this may be the more balanced option.
Which One Would You Choose?
Both straps work with the watch, but they tell very different stories.
Suede Mimosa is warmer, bolder and more expressive. It draws attention to the colorful details of the dial and gives the watch a more casual, vintage-inspired character.
Nubuck Gris with gold stitching is quieter and more versatile. The grey complements the case and dial, while the stitching adds just enough color to make the pairing feel intentional.
There is no single correct choice. The better option depends on whether you want the strap to transform the watch or simply reveal another side of it.
