Client Note — MB&F × Sage FKM Sailcloth Rubber

This project began with a request that stayed with us: our customer wanted a strap for his MB&F that would be even better than the original. It was a lovely vote of confidence, and a challenge we took seriously.

We made two custom straps for him, in Grey and Sage FKM Sailcloth Rubber. After they arrived, he sent us this message:

“Just received them!!! Totally in love!!!
They are absolutely PERFECT”

He also shared the wrist photograph shown here, with the Sage strap fitted to his MB&F.

A Note on the Making

For this watch, the construction needed as much thought as the choice of material.

We spent time working through the dimensions, the thickness and the shape of each part. The strap needed to sit well against the unusual case, with enough structure to support the watch while remaining comfortable around the wrist.

These were the details we kept returning to at the workbench. Seeing the finished pairing on his wrist—and reading his response—was a particularly happy moment for us.

Material Note — Sage FKM Sailcloth Rubber

Against the warm gold tones of the case, Sage brings an earthy green that feels relaxed and understated. Its muted colour gives the watch a different character, while sitting comfortably alongside the black displays and exposed mechanical details.

The sailcloth-textured surface adds another layer of detail. Its fine, regular pattern contrasts with the rounded forms of the case, and matching stitching keeps the finish quiet.

Our FKM Sailcloth Rubber combines a textured FKM rubber exterior with calf leather and Zermatt lining, finished with hand saddle stitching. Here, that combination gives a very unconventional watch a familiar, tactile presence on the wrist.
