CHOOSING YOUR STRAP

1. Will Atelier Tamago straps fit my watch?

Our straps are compatible with most watches that use conventional lugs and removable spring bars.

However, strap dimensions and attachment systems may vary between watch models, references, and clasp types. Some watches require curved ends, notched ends, proprietary spring bars, or other special constructions.

If you are unsure, please send us the full reference number of your watch together with clear photos of the watch and its original strap before placing your order. We will be happy to help you check the compatibility.

2. How do I determine the correct strap width?

Our strap dimensions are shown as:

Lug Width × Buckle Width

The first measurement is the width of the strap where it connects to the watch case. The second is the width at the buckle or clasp end. For example, a 20mm × 16mm strap measures 20mm at the watch and tapers to 16mm at the buckle.

For the most accurate result, measure the inside distance between the lugs and the width of your original buckle or clasp in millimetres.

If you plan to use your watch’s original buckle or deployant clasp, please confirm both measurements before ordering. Watch specifications may vary by reference, production year, and clasp type, so we recommend measuring the actual watch or original strap whenever possible.

3. How do I choose the correct strap length?

Our standard strap length is 115mm/75mm, which generally suits wrist sizes of approximately 169–179mm.

However, wrist circumference is only a guideline. The size of the watch case, the type of buckle or deployant clasp, and your preferred wearing position can all affect the ideal strap length.

If you are unsure, please send us your wrist measurement, watch model, clasp type, and the length of your current strap. A photo showing how your current strap fits can also help us recommend a more suitable length.

4. What is the difference between an in-stock, standard-size, and made-to-order strap?

In-stock straps are already available in our workshop and are usually dispatched within 1–3 business days.

Standard-size straps made after ordering follow our existing specifications and standard pricing but are crafted after your order is placed. Production usually takes approximately 3 weeks.

Made-to-order straps are created with non-standard measurements or configurations, such as a different length, width, taper, thickness, padding profile, stitching style, or lug-end construction. Production generally takes approximately 4–6 weeks.

The estimated production time for each available option is shown on the product page before you add the strap to your cart.

5. Can I use my watch’s original buckle or deployant clasp?

Yes. Many clients choose to use their watch’s original tang buckle or deployant clasp with an Atelier Tamago strap.

Please confirm the buckle-end width before ordering. Deployant clasps may also have specific requirements for strap thickness, length, hole placement, or construction.

If you are unsure, please send us clear photos of the front and back of the clasp, together with the measurements of the original strap. We recommend confirming compatibility before placing your order.

6. How can I choose the right material and colour for my watch?

You can use the “Try It On” feature on our watch strap collection pages to upload a photo of your watch and preview different materials and colours.

The preview is intended as a visual reference. The appearance of the final strap may vary slightly depending on lighting, photography, screen settings, and the natural characteristics of the material.

If you would still like guidance, please send us a clear, front-facing photo of your watch and tell us a little about the style you prefer. We will be happy to help you explore a few suitable options.

Our in-stock straps are generally available in 18mm × 16mm, 19mm × 16mm, and 20mm × 16mm, with a standard length of 115mm/75mm.

We also offer standard sizes in 21mm × 16mm, 20mm × 18mm, 21mm × 18mm, and 22mm × 18mm. These sizes are usually made after the order is placed, with an estimated production time of approximately 3 weeks.

If you require a different width, length, taper, or configuration, you can place an order through our Made to Order page or contact us at info.atelier.tamago@gmail.com.

2. Do you offer quick-release spring bars?

Yes. Quick-release spring bars are included with our straps at no additional cost, allowing you to change the strap easily without using a tool.

If you prefer traditional spring bars or would like to use your watch’s original spring bars, simply select “No Quick Release” when placing your order.

For watches that require special or proprietary spring bars, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm compatibility.

3. Is a buckle included with the strap?

Yes. Each watch strap includes one complimentary 316L stainless steel buckle at no additional cost.

Our buckles are available in 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm widths, depending on the selected strap size. Available finishes include Silver Polished, Silver Brushed, Gold Polished, and Rose Gold Polished.

If you prefer to use your watch’s original buckle or deployant clasp, you may select “No Buckle” when placing your order. Please ensure that the buckle-end width of the strap matches your original buckle or clasp.

4. How should I care for my watch strap?

Care requirements vary depending on the material.

Leather straps: Avoid prolonged contact with water, sweat, direct sunlight, and excessive heat. We recommend removing your leather strap before showering, swimming, or exercising. If it becomes damp, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to air-dry naturally.

When not in use, store your strap in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid applying general leather conditioners unless they are specifically suitable for the leather type, as some products may alter the colour or texture of materials such as suede and nubuck.

FKM Sailcloth Rubber straps: These straps can handle normal daily contact with water and may be gently hand-washed. However, because they are hand-stitched and finished with Zermatt leather lining, we do not recommend wearing them while swimming or leaving them submerged in water.

For material-specific care advice, please refer to the product page or contact us. We will be happy to guide you.
