Client Note — Kurono Tokyo x Chocolate Brown - Epsom

Sometimes, a pairing changes how we see a colour.

For Paulo, brown straps had never been an obvious choice. Paired with his black-dial Kurono Tokyo, our Chocolate Brown Epsom gave him a reason to reconsider.

What first drew Paulo to this strap was the texture—the way the Epsom grain worked with the warm, understated brown.

Rather than making the watch feel muted, the pairing brought a quiet elegance that surprised him. In his own words:

“I’ve always shied away from brown straps in general. For some reason, they always seemed to mute the watch, or rather, to not complement it as adequately as a great strap should. This time around, that changed.

What I particularly liked about this strap was the texture. It seemed to marry the warm and understated brown so beautifully. I felt immediately drawn to pair it with a piece that carried a black dial, not only to keep the sober look, but to add a subtle layer of flair to it.

My usual hesitation of perhaps a darker shade of brown being a bit dull was far from true here. I think it makes the piece seriously graceful. For an everyday option that has a subtle yet elegant personality, I cannot think of a better strap than this very one.”

Chocolate Brown brings warmth to the wrist while keeping the overall look understated. Alongside a black dial, it offers a gentle contrast that feels easy to wear every day.

Epsom’s embossed grain gives the colour another dimension. Its fine, regular texture catches the light across the surface, adding detail to a shade that might otherwise appear quite uniform.

The leather’s structured feel helps the strap retain its shape, while the grain gives it a character of its own. In this pairing, that balance of colour and texture was exactly what changed Paulo’s impression of brown.
