Client Note — Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso × Chestnut Ostrich

Some pairings are built on contrast.
Others feel like they have always belonged together.

This note comes from a collector sharing his Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, paired with our Chestnut Ostrich strap.

Client Note from the Collector

“What stood out on the first touch was how soft the strap actually felt.

I had a slight suspicion that ostrich would feel a bit stiff, or perhaps a leather that would require some time to break in. Not here.

It’s buttery soft from the start, especially due to its calf leather lining.

The marbling — if we can even call it that — on the leather is the most subtle form of texture I’ve seen yet. It is the type of texture that could easily overshadow the polka dots that are so intrinsic to ostrich leather.

Instead, both textures play their part with the right balance.

The dots remain the stars.

Each small dot has enough breathing room, avoiding a texture that might become overwhelming if done incorrectly. They all work naturally together without overpowering the timepiece.

I would happily say it is one of the most elevated aesthetics alongside crocodile, while the ostrich alternative carries an edge in creativity — simply because it remains a much less common choice.

The color itself has a youthful quality. Despite being an exotic leather, it does not feel overly formal. It is refined, but very discreetly so.

It is a nuanced piece that requires a second look to fully appreciate — and that is exactly what I love about it.”

Material Note — Ostrich Chestnut

Ostrich Chestnut brings together two qualities that rarely appear at the same time: character and restraint.

The natural quill pattern gives the leather an unmistakable identity, but the beauty of ostrich lies in its balance. The texture is present without becoming overwhelming, allowing the watch itself to remain the center of attention.

Unlike some exotic leathers that immediately announce themselves, Ostrich Chestnut reveals its details gradually. The closer you look, the more you notice — the texture, the depth of color, and the subtle variations across the surface.

Combined with its exceptionally soft feel on the wrist, it becomes an exotic leather that is not reserved only for special occasions, but one that feels equally at home as a daily companion.
